Jan 26

Its 9 am, and technically I should be in class. The thing is the prof let us out after 30 min of lecturing cause he was done. I'm alright with it, less boring time listening about goniometry.
I called and was able to talk to my dad this morning on my way to class. It was nice to get to talk to him before he leaves, and then I won't know the next time I'll get to chat with him. For those of you who don't know, my dad has been called to active duty status with the United States Air Force to serve at US Southern Command HQ in Miami, FL for a minimum of 30 days. This should put him home in March. However, you never know specifics with military. His plane leaves at 12pm. Hopefully everything goes well.

Well I'm gonna get some work done before I have to head to Devos to hear a senior case presentation.

Jan 23

Well its Saturday, and I love it. This weekend has been off to a good start. Friday after a busy time with classes and starting rehab, I had dinner with Lisa. It was nice to catch up and just talk with her. Then I went to a hockey game with Kara and Sarah, my future housemates, as well as their boyfriends. Normally I have Bev with me so its not as awkward, but it went well and I had a fantastic time. The game was a fun one to watch, even though they lost 4-2. I must say Sarah's enthusiasm was awesome! "Do you think that "A" means something special?" We went to Kara's afterwords, made no-bake cookies, and then watched The Hangover. It was quite good. Much better than I anticipated.
Today, Matt and my mom came up to visit. While my mom went to some...thing...Matt and I sat in the Gilmore TV Lounge and watched Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. I may or may not have fallen asleep half way through. Staying up till 3 am the night before may not have been a very good idea. Then Matt and Mom went to the bookstore where Matt got a lanyard and a new t-shirt, since he outgrew the one I got for him a year ago. Then we went to Red Robin and then the men's basketball game. They won so that's always good. Matt and Mom left after the game and I've been sitting in my room watching random TV. I decided to switch things up a little and venture from the TV and update my blog. Tomorrow will have to be homework day, hopefully I'll get something done.

Till next time,

Jan 17 - David and Emma

It is with a heavy heart that I post this evening. I found out around 6:45 pm that two Hope College students died in a plane crash this morning. Its just now hitting me, after really having time to sit and think.  I did not know the 2 students all to well. David was a sophomore and an exchange student from Kenya. My one interaction with him was in the training room during soccer try-outs. He seemed to be a very happy individual. Emma, I didn't know very well, but her younger sister lives on my hall. When I think about how Lizzie, her sister, might be feeling I just lose it. I can't imagine my little sister dying at such a young age. Having so much potential left, having not seen the world, being only in college. I think that is what really gets me. I've finally realized that I won't see David in the training room. I'll never have the chance to meet Lizzie's sister, whom she looked so much alike. Its hard to think about them in the past tense, knowing they are both gone. The only comforting part is that they are in a better place now. As cliche as it sounds, its comforting knowing that both are in a place where everything goes well, where there is no pain or sorrow. They are in their heavenly father's arms. Please keep both their families in your prayers, as well as the Hope students who were such good friends to these two students.

Jan 15

Well its finally the weekend and I'm loving it. I got to sleep in today till 8:30 which was nice. Class started at 9:30 so I actually was able to look nice today. Always a plus. Classes started with Ex Phys followed by Injury Assessment, then Practicum, and finally World Music. I'm gonna include a schedule on here, that way I won't have to keep telling you what classes I had each day. :)

This weekend will be a nice recovery time for me. I don't have to work any basketball games so that's nice. I just have to get some homework done, maybe I'll even try and work ahead, who knows. :)

I'm hungry, so I'm gonna try and find someone to eat with. Enjoy the schedule.

Till next time,

Jan 13

Well today is the second day of classes. Yesterday went well. I started at 8 am and got out a bit early. That probably won't happen all to often though. I then got re-certified in CPR, followed by dinner with Kate and Erin which was nice. I was then able to pay some bills, send out mail, just random things till 3 when I went and worked at the Dow. Then at 6 I helped with physicals for some athletes who transferred or decided late that they wanted to participate. I even got free pizza out of it. :)

Today started early. Too early. My exercise physiology lab starts at 7:30 am and goes till 9:20. Then I go to ex. phys lecture till 10:20. Then I chill in Devos till 11 when my assessment class starts. I then went and ate lunch with Kate, Sarah E. and Blair. (Go Cats! They won last night.) Anywho...I then went to World Music. That will be an interesting class. Hopefully the prof doesn't drive me absolutely batty. Fingers crossed. Then I went to the bookstore. I had to exchange my used lab book of a new one, which costs me an extra $20. Why you ask? Cause the lab book as pages you have to tear out and mine were missing some. Looks like I won't be able so sell this one back. :( Oh well...life goes on. I bought some binders, got organized, and now I'm gonna get working on some homework for my 8 am assessment class tomorrow. Woot woot!

Till next time,

Jan 8

Well its the end of the week here, outside of traveling to K-Zoo tomorrow with the women's basketball team. Its been nice and pretty relaxing overall. Tuesday consisted of practice and then pizza dinner at Kirk's. Wednesday I covered a home basketball game where the women played Alma and won by 21 pts. Woot woot! Thursday was a repeat of Tuesday but instead of dinner at Kirk's, Emilee and I went to Tonia's where she made white chicken chili. The flavor was good, I'm just not a fan of the beans, so I just ate the chicken. Today, I picked up my my new boots, and covered practice. It started a bit earlier than normal which in turns mean getting done earlier. I'm on my own for dinner tonight, which translates to Easy Mac. Not too bad. So now, I'll probably watch some tv, maybe read some of the book I got for Christmas, and continue snacking. Well...I think I'm gonna be done with blogging for tonight.

My roomie just got back and I'm loving it. Its so nice to have other people around!

Till next time,

Jan 4

Well I'm sitting in my room at Hope, watching Mythbusters, and its rather spooky. Why you ask? Perhaps its because its night time and I'm in my room alone. Then when you add in the fact that I'm essentially the only person living in Gilmore...how would you feel? Its all good though. I spent this morning watching random TV shows and putting things away. I went to work around 2. It was my first day back working in the training room, and oh how I've missed it. It was pretty boring come 4 though since practice started at 3:30. Emilee and I found things to do though, playing mah-jongg, organizing the tape drawers, making a playlist for the training room, and watching practice. Afterwards, we made our way to Brian's house where his wife made us dinner. This was around 7. Hooray for a long day. Now get this, I tried something new today, Cincinnati Chili. And in all reality, it wasn't too bad. The rolls were amazing though! Emilee and I entertained there 2 daughters till their bed time then we stopped at Wal-Mart for what we believe is an awesome idea. We bought tackle boxes to use for all the meds so we know where they all are in our kit. Pretty smart if you ask me, can't take credit for it though. :) Well tomorrow will probably a repeat of today, hopefully I'll figure something out for dinner.

Till next time,

Jan 1

Well I rang in the New Year with my family and actually went to a friend's where there was a surprise party for his mom's 40th birthday. I played a lot of euchre with the friends, rang in the new year, then headed home. This morning I woke up this morning, worried sick that I missed the Rose Parade. I turned on the TV and searched for the parade and could not find it for the life of me. Turns out I tried to find the parade too early. Oh well, in the end I got to see the parade and even got to watch it with my family. Double bonus. The rest of the day was spent watching sports, the holiday classic and all the bowl games. I'm doing horrible in my family's bowl picks. I'm currently bringing up the rear. Why I continue to do it is beyond me. Probably cause I'm a sucker for some competition. Well now its Jan 2, barely, and I'm headed to bed. Night.
